How your data is handled
Plainly, because you should know exactly what travels and what doesn't.
The nemetic.φ carries no personal information
The encoded line — Φ(…) = σ(x|y) ∘ … + ε | :state — and its plain reading are abstract: the shape of a pattern, not a record of you. Nothing in a nemetic.φ identifies a person. That is the point — it is the part meant to travel.
Your conversation with the GPT is between you and OpenAI
The Elemental Sensemaker runs on ChatGPT. Whatever you type there is governed by your OpenAI account settings and OpenAI's terms — not by us. We never see that conversation. We only ever receive what you choose to submit on the form: the nemetic.φ, its plain reading, your email, and optionally a name and a Discord username.
Every scene is shared — anonymously by default
There is no private mode. Each scene is composed and then posted on the site, announced in the Discord, and emailed to you. It is anonymous unless you give a name, in which case the scene is credited “scene seed via [name].” Bring something you're willing to see take shape in the open. (The nemetic.φ carries no personal information — see above — so what's public is an abstracted scene, not your identity.)
The composing is still private
To generate the scene the agents process your nemetic.φ through an external language model — but that processing is private. Only the finished scene is public; the input is never exposed.
The elements may consult a shared memory
When you ask an elemental something, it can look up relevant material from a shared library of framework knowledge — the SIML specifications, the elemental references, the memetic-ecology writings — hosted at memory.elemental.fyi. A few keywords from your question travel to that library to fetch matching passages, which come back to help ground the reply. That library holds only published framework material — a deliberately curated, public-safe subset with no personal notes, no relational memory, and no one's contact details. Nothing you send is stored there; each lookup is answered and forgotten.
If you give a Discord username
It's used for one thing: if you're a member of the Elemental Sensemaking Discord, Jake thanks you by mention in #the-tally when your scene goes live. If you're not a member, nothing happens with it. We don't store it beyond that purpose.
Your email
We don't sell it, rent it, or add you to anything you didn't ask for. We use it only to send what you requested — your scene, and, only if you tick the box, a short weekly note listing new scenes (titles and their nemetic.φ, nothing more). Every weekly note has a one-click unsubscribe, and you can opt out any time at nema@elemental.fyi.
One honest note
This is a generative practice, not a clinical or validated service. Hold what returns as a way of looking — weather, not a verdict.
